Puncture repair — motorcycle

The tire comes off the rim so the damage can be inspected from the inside. A plug pushed in from the outside without ever looking at the carcass is not a repair, it is a guess.

What we check

• Where the puncture is — anything in the shoulder or sidewall is not repairable, full stop
• Whether the carcass has been run flat and damaged internally
• The size of the entry hole against the manufacturer’s repair limit
• Remaining tread depth, since a repair on a nearly worn tire is money wasted

If it can be repaired

Internal mushroom plug, vulcanised, rebalanced and refitted. If it cannot, you pay the inspection fee only and we talk about a replacement.

We will not repair a sidewall or a shoulder on a motorcycle tire. There is no safe way to do it and no amount of asking will change that answer.
