Swapping between two sets of wheels, or between two sets of tires on the same rims.
On separate wheels
Straight swap, torqued and pressures set. Quick, and the reason having a second set of rims pays for itself over a few seasons.
On the same rims
Tires dismounted and remounted, rebalanced each time. More work, and harder on the tire beads over repeated cycles.
Included either way
- Tread depth and date codes recorded for both sets
- Pressures set to the placard figure
- TPMS re-registered where the car uses separate sensors per set
- Wheels torqued in sequence and re-checked
