Winter storage preparation
Most spring problems are November problems that nobody dealt with. Ethanol fuel separating, acid-laden oil sitting on bearings, a battery slowly dying.
What we do
- Oil and filter changed — used oil is acidic and should not sit in an engine for five months
- Fuel stabiliser added and run through, or the tank drained on carburetted bikes
- Coolant strength tested against your worst expected temperature
- Battery removed and put on a maintenance charger, or a tender fitted
- Chain cleaned and heavily lubricated
- Tires inflated above normal to resist flat-spotting
- Bare metal and exposed surfaces protected
- Bike put on stands with both wheels off the ground where possible
In spring
Book a pre-season check. Fluids, pressures, brakes and a quick scan before the first proper ride out.
